Video: Plant 50 Surprises Tony Cannady with NCAA Tickets
The team at Plant 50 chipped in to surprise Tony Cannady with tickets to see his son play at this year's NCAA March Madness tournament. Tony's son, Devin, is a guard for the Princeton Tigers men's basketball team. Knowing Tony's work schedule would not easily accommodate the trip to Buffalo, NY, Tony's teammates set him up with a plane ticket, a hotel reservation and some spending cash. Watch the video here
LCI Cares Sponsors Eaglebots Team
The Eaglebots Team from Woodview Elementary School in Nappanee have qualified to compete as one of 275 teams from across the world in VEX Worlds 2017, a robotics competition held in Louisville, Kentucky. The team, made up of fourth and fifth grade students, conducted research, secured sponsorships, designed their robot "Shiela" and learned how to operate it. The team has competed in several rounds of competitions to make it to this point and hopes to be successful at VEX Worlds in April. Wish them luck!
LCI Marketing Visits Food Bank of Northern Indiana
Team members from the marketing department spent an afternoon helping sort, package and organize food at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. The team put together hundreds of food "goodie bags" for local kids and helped check-in clients at the food bank's community pantry. The marketing team has been helping out at the Food Bank on a regular basis throughout the year.
Plant 85 Volunteers at Bashor Children's Home and Crossroads Community Church
Plant 85 set up two volunteer events on Saturday, March 18th to support both the Bashor Children's Home and Crossroads Community Church, both located in Goshen, Indiana. The team helped install drop ceilings at one of Bashor's cottages and re-mulched the playground at Crossroads.
Faith Mission with the Windows Division
The Windows Division has been busy helping Faith Mission of Elkhart, Indiana at their thrift store. The team spent time sorting donated clothing items, and were told that their support had helped accomplished 5-6 days of work in only a few short hours. The team is passionate about Faith Mission's services to the homeless and plans to make this an ongoing volunteer opportunity.
Cards for Hospitalized Kids with Plant 210
On Friday, March 24th, Plant 210 team members made Easter holiday cards for nonprofit organization Cards for Hospitalized Kids. Plant 210 has already done several rounds of cards and plans to continue their tradition for upcoming holidays. The team had a great turnout, and everyone really enjoyed putting the cards together for the kids, knowing they will bring a smile to each child during their tough circumstances.
Adopt a US Soldier with Plant 227
Plant 227 is supporting U.S. military members through Adopt A US Soldier (AAUSS), a nonprofit organization that connects civilians with deployed troops. The team has adopted seven soldiers so far and have been writing letters of encouragement and gratitude to them. Along with the letters, the team has been sending care packages with assorted goodies. Passionate about the cause, they plan to continue their support and hope other teams get involved, too.
Plant 39 Helps Church Community Services Go Lean
Team members from Plant 39 have been an integral part of the work and mission of Church Community Services, a nonprofit in Elkhart. Recently, the team helped repaint, relabel and rearrange the nonprofit's warehouse for a more efficient operation. Using skills they've learned here at LCI, the group helped implement lean manufacturing processes that cut costs and reduce the organization's waste.
